ServicesFutures helps young parents build a secure future for themselves and their children by providing case management, education counseling, job readiness training, parenting education, housing counseling and leadership development. Services are free to young parents. Some transportation and childcare is available. Call 543-3550 for more information. The following are all in Missoula: Futures Support Group We offer separate Moms' Groups and Dads' Groups once per month. Call 543-3550 ext. 247 for details. Young Family Resource Center - 2525 Palmer St. Family Fun Night Monthly - call for dates and times Education/Job Readiness Support Provides support while completing GED or high school education, and/or preparing for post-secondary education. Training in job-readiness and goal-setting skills, and job shadowing opportunities. Peer Education Panel Teen parents speak to their peers about the reality of early parenting, with a focus on the importance of teen pregnancy prevention. L.E.A.P.: Leadership Experience for Adolescent Parents Youth Development activities that help teens build self esteem and enhance leadership skills, while having lots of fun! Shared Beginnings: Fun activities and distribution of books to promote learning and literacy for young parents and their children. Parents As Teachers: A nationally recognized parent education program which recognizes that all parents can be their child's first and best teacher. The program uses a very "hands on" approach to learning about child development and parenting through home visits and group meetings. |
